Kensa's Compact Ground Source Heat Pump wins Product of the Year.
Kensa Engineering, a thriving manufacturer of ground source heat pumps based in Cornwall, has won first prize for Product of the Year at the Housing Excellence Awards 2009, the show-piece event for companies operating in the social housing sector.

Cutting carbon emissions, saving fuel costs for customers and winning a prestigious award is the triple-winning success story for Kensa Engineering Ltd. With escalating fuel prices and widespread concern over climate change, many building projects are looking at renewable sources of energy. Kensa designs and manufactures easy-to-install ground source heat pump systems that are widening access to this green technology.
The Housing Excellence Awards celebrate companies that make social housing work, whether by constructing houses, running social housing schemes or developing products and services that aid with housing issues.
Kensa Engineering was presented with the award, by Peter Jones the Northern MD of Connaught Partnerships, at a prestigious ceremony in Manchester on the evening of the 13th May 2009 for their range of domestic compact heat pumps and the benefits that these can bring to social housing schemes.
Managing Director, Simon Lomax commented: ‘Installing heating systems which reduce running costs is an obvious attraction for social housing providers in these times of high energy prices. Further, the use of ground source heat pumps significantly reduces a property's carbon footprint which means that projects qualify for significant grants from the energy companies. This Housing Excellence award reflects the quality of the Kensa Compact heat pump and is further evidence of the company's leading market position'.
Kensa recently obtained an order for over 240 heat pumps to displace solid fuel boilers in properties throughout Lincolnshire. According to Lomax ‘Whilst there are plenty of companies selling imported heat pumps, Kensa prospers because of its ability to design and manufacture systems specifically suited for UK properties. Our technical expertise also provide a clear competitive advantage. The forward order book is growing at a remarkable pace and there will be significant further investment in the manufacturing facility at Mt Wellington, Truro. We are bucking the recession, creating the much-touted ‘green collar' jobs and raising awareness of the technology, as witnessed by a recent visit by Tory leader, David Cameron MP, to Kensa'.
