Who's who at Kensa
Richard Freeborn Chairman: Richard Freeborn

Richard founded Kensa in 1999 with Guy Cashmore (see below). Since then the company has grown significantly and played a leading role in the emerging popularity of heat pump technology in the UK. Richard’s experience and expertise is held in high regard throughout the renewable sector evidenced by his appointment as a Director of Regen SW, the UK’s leading Renewable Energy Agency. Richard is also heavily involved in developing new training standards for heat pumps and SHERPA, the EU-wide heat pump research and development project. Richard speaks at events throughout the country and has a particular interest in developing heating solutions to eliminate fuel poverty.
Simon Lomax Managing Director: Simon Lomax

Simon replaced Richard as Managing Director in May 2007 to oversee the company’s dramatic expansion plans at its new Mt Wellington facility. Previously, Simon held senior sales and general management roles with a leading underfloor heating company having earlier been involved with start-up businesses in the United States and Canada.
Guy Cashmore Technical Director: Guy Cashmore. M Inst. Refrigeration

Guy spent many years installing air heating and ventilation systems, so brings a wealth of practical experience to Kensa. Since forming the company Guy has acquired unrivalled knowledge regarding the application of heat pumps and associated heating distribution systems and is regularly asked to contribute his expertise to consultants working on a wide range of residential and commercial projects. In addition, Guy is responsible for all manufacturing operations and Kensa’s major research and development programme.
Dr Mark Scibor-Rylski Non-Executive Director: Dr Mark Scibor-Rylski

Mark was introduced to Kensa as a Business Mentor for UEC Enterprises working with SMEs in the Environmental Technology sector. Mark has been involved in the commercialisation of technology for over 20 years and has worked with Xerox Corp, British Aerospace, Westinghouse, Lansing/Lansing Bagnall, Prudential Corp, ANZ, Charterhouse Ventures, as well as a large number of SMEs. Since his appointment Mark has provided Kensa with a wealth of guidance to help grow the company and handles investor relations.
Dr Mark Scibor-Rylski Non-Executive Director: Trevor Howard

Trevor is an established business leader in the Southwest of England with proven strategic management experience gained whilst the Managing Director at several of Cornwall’s larger private companies. Trevor was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in July 2007. Trevor provides his expertise to a wide range of companies and business and acts as a mentor for the "Unlocking Cornish Potential" scheme.
  Sales Manager: Paul Dennison

Paul Dennison joined Kensa in 2007 to spearhead sales through the expanding distributor and installer networks and to manage Kensa's in-house sales team. Previously, Paul spent five years in senior business development roles with a leading underfloor heating company and 20 years handling design, sales, and project management for a mechanical and electrical contractor in South Devon. Paul's technical background and familiarity with heating system design and installation issues means he is well-placed to introduce customers to heat pump technology.
 

Marketing Manager: John Barker-Brown

John joined the company in Sept 2006 as Application Manager, ensuring that heat pump technology was applied correctly and advising customers on the best use of this technology. In 2007 John became Marketing Manager to head up Kensa’s expanding Marketing Department and now is applying his experience to grow Kensa’s profile and presence in the heat pump market. Before Kensa, John spent six years as Business Development Executive for a large International company specialising in the control of industrial fluids. There he specialised in growing market share and finding new opportunities for new products.

 

Administration Manager: Sandra Whymark

Sandra joined Kensa in October 2003 and helped transform the operations by introducing efficient procedures to control all the administration activities. In addition, Sandra is responsible for day-to-day financial matters and manages the accounts function.

 

Technical Support Manager: Alastair Morrison

Alastair, an ex-RAF engineer, joined Kensa in 1999 as the company was formed. Alastair spent a number of years as the Production Manager before moving into the Technical Support Manager role, where he is ideally positioned to transfer his knowledge to the growing number of installation partners. In addition, Alastair is responsible for identifying more efficient production methods and is the first point-of-contact with suppliers. Finally, Alastair is responsible for overseeing the quality control function.

 

Production Manager: Tom Worth

Tom was one of the first engineers employed by Kensa to manufacture heat pumps and has developed his career as the company has grown. Tom was recently promoted to the Production Manager’s role and is helping to ensure Kensa’s manufacturing facility can meet the ever increasing demand at the company’s new ISO-9001 facility at Mt Wellington.
