Industry First 12kW Single Compressor Heat Pump Available for Single Phase Power Supplies.

Kensa Engineering, the only UK manufacturer of a complete range of ground source heat pumps, has released the first commercially available 12kW single compressor heat pump, operating on single phase power supply. In a domestic application twin unit, up to 24kW of heat can be provided which is the largest available single phase heat pump on the market.

Kensa, renowned for their technical expertise acquired a 22 acre site in 2007 to support manufacturing expansion and product development. A full range of ground source heat pumps are produced  providing space and water heating for the domestic and commercial marketplace.

Ground source heat pumps are an increasingly popular renewable energy technology; they work by transferring the heat stored in the ground surrounding any property into the home.
Demand for the technology is being fuelled by their exceptional energy efficiency which means a far lower carbon footprint and significantly lower heating bills when compared to traditional fossil fuels.

The 12kW unit is fitted with a brand new model of Copeland compressor, which provides a Coefficient of Performance of 4 at an inlet ground temperature of 0oC and a load side outlet temperature of 35oC. The units are fitted as standard with a ‘high power’ Smart Start to limit the effects of a large current draw when the compressor starts. This means that the starting current is reduced from 125 amps to only 36 amps, making it much more acceptable for domestic single phase electricity supplies.

Kensa Engineering is approved for the design and manufacture of heat pumps to ISO9001:2000 with testing to BS EN 14511. The units are designed for ease of installation and in addition to this full UK based technical support is available for queries and pump commissioning.

‘The addition of a 12kW single phase unit greatly increases our offering to clients as well as making the technology more affordable’, commented Marketing Manager, John Barker-Brown.
