Frequently Asked Questions at Kensa Frequently Asked Question

What’s the difference between a plantroom and compact heat pump?

Kensa provide two ranges of heat pumps (see our product range page). The compact, is designed for the domestic market, the other commercial properties.

Kensa products

Single Compressor  Twin Compressor

The domestic range is suitable for heat loads from 4kW up to 32kW and is available in three phase in all sizes or single phase up to 24kW. The range comes complete with integral water pumps for the ground arrays and the load side ring main. The larger units (above 12kW) are twin compressor units, which provide a degree of contingency and also ability to run at
half load.

The Plantroom Range

The Plantroom Range

Plantroom modules are three phase only and come in 20kW, 25kW, 30kW, 40kW, 50kW, 60kW and 75kW sizes. However they are a modular design, which means they can be combined to provide greater loads. For example a 100kW heat load would be provided by 2 x 50kW units linked together. This provides back up and again the ability to run at part load.

All units are compatible with different energy sources, i.e. boreholes, water or ground arrays and have the ability to be weather compensated. Click here to download our specification text.
