Frequently Asked Questions at Kensa Frequently Asked Question

How can I help minimise my client’s running costs?

To maximise the benefits of installing a ground source heat pump and indeed any renewable technology, the building needs to be designed to minimise the need for energy with strategies such as effective insulation, passive ventilation, etc. By effectively designing a building, the amount and size of any renewable technology can be considerably reduced compared to a building where energy efficiency has been ignored.

Ideally in domestic situations, heat pumps should be installed in well-insulated buildings with underfloor heating mounted in screed and with the DHW produced by solar panels backed up with an off-peak immersion heater. As the underfloor is mounted in screed it is possible to reduce heating bills further by the client using off-peak electricity tariffs such as Economy 10 (if available).
